These terms apply to your use of scanabug.com (the "site"), its free AI identifier tools and its guides (together, the "service"). ScanaBug is owned and operated by Attique Ahmed Abbasi, an individual ("we" or "us"). By using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
2. What the service is
ScanaBug provides a free AI bug, insect and spider identifier and written identification guides. They are for general information and education only.
3. What the service is not
- Not medical advice. Nothing on the site diagnoses, treats or prevents a medical condition. See our Disclaimer.
- Not pest control advice. We do not inspect properties, treat infestations or recommend companies.
- Not a guarantee. Identification from a single photograph has real limits, and results can be wrong.
- Not a bite diagnosis. The Bug Bite Identifier suggests possible causes only.
4. Accuracy of results
Identification results and safety labels are suggestions generated automatically. You are responsible for how you use them. Where the answer matters, such as a possible bite from a venomous species or a suspected infestation, confirm it with a qualified professional.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload unlawful, harmful or obscene images, or images that show faces, other people's identifying features or documents. Close-up photos of your own skin are allowed for the Bug Bite Identifier.
- Upload photos you do not have the right to use.
- Scrape or bulk download the site, or use bots or scripts to send requests to the identifier.
- Bypass any usage limits, or interfere with, disrupt or try to gain unauthorized access to the site or its systems.
- Present identification results as professional medical, pest control or entomological advice.
We may limit or block access to protect the service.
6. Your photos
You keep ownership of the photos you upload. By uploading a photo you give us permission to send it to our AI provider and process it only to return a result to you. We do not save the photo in our own storage, as described in our Privacy Policy. You confirm that you have the right to upload it.
7. Our content
The text, guides, tables, graphics, design and software of the site belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright. You may read and share links to pages, and quote short passages with credit and a link to the page. You may not copy, republish or sell our content without written permission. To report a copyright concern, see our Copyright and DMCA Policy.
8. Advertising and third-party links
The site shows, or may show, advertising from Google AdSense. We do not control the ads shown or the websites they link to. Guides link to other websites, and we are not responsible for their content or practices. See our Advertising Disclosure.
9. Availability and changes
The service is free and provided as is. We may change, limit or stop any part of it at any time, including usage limits.
10. No warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted availability.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the service, including loss from relying on an identification result or a guide. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed US$100. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not remove any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection laws in your own country.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version. If you keep using the service after a change, you accept the updated terms.
