Accessibility Statement
Last Updated: July 2026
ScanaBug is committed to making our website and identification tools usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We are actively working to meet or exceed the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, and we are monitoring the European Accessibility Act, which applies to relevant digital services offered to consumers in the EU from June 2025 onward.
1. Our Approach
- Providing text alternatives for images, including species photos and identification chart graphics
- Ensuring the site can be navigated using a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse
- Maintaining sufficient color contrast between text and background throughout the site
- Using clear heading structure and semantic HTML to support screen readers
- Designing our photo upload tool so results are announced in a way compatible with assistive technology
- Avoiding content that relies on color alone to convey meaning, particularly in danger-level badges, which are labeled with text as well as color
2. Known Limitations
Digital accessibility is an ongoing effort. Some areas of the site, particularly embedded third-party tools or older content, may not yet fully meet our accessibility standards. We are working to identify and correct these issues on an ongoing basis.
3. Compatibility
This site is designed to be compatible with recent versions of major screen readers, including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver, when used with current versions of major browsers.
4. Reporting an Accessibility Issue
If you experience any difficulty accessing content or using any part of this website, please let us know. We take these reports seriously and will work to address the issue as quickly as possible.
Email: accessibility@scanabug.com
Please include the web address (URL) of the page, a description of the issue, and, if possible, the assistive technology and browser you were using.
5. Ongoing Commitment
We review our accessibility practices periodically as our site evolves and as accessibility standards and regulations are updated, including guidance connected to the European Accessibility Act and equivalent national laws.
