Advertising Disclosure

This page explains how ScanaBug is funded and how advertising works on the site.

How ScanaBug is funded

The identifier and the guides are free to use. ScanaBug displays, or may display, advertising served by Google AdSense to help cover the cost of running the site.

Ads on this site

Ads are chosen by Google and its advertising partners. They can be based on the content of the page and, where you have agreed, on your browsing activity. We do not choose or control the specific ads shown and we are not responsible for the claims or products of advertisers. Ads are placed around the content and are separate from our guides. Ads may appear next to health-related guides, such as bite and bed bug pages. They are chosen by Google, we do not endorse them, and they are not medical advice. Our Cookie Policy explains how to manage advertising cookies.

Advertising never changes our content

No advertiser has editorial control over ScanaBug. We do not accept payment to change an identification result, a safety label or a recommendation, and we do not accept payment for links inside guides. See our Editorial Policy.

Affiliate links and sponsored content

We do not currently use affiliate links and we do not publish sponsored posts. If that changes, we will label every affiliate link and sponsored item clearly where it appears, for example with the words "Affiliate link" or "Sponsored", and we will update this page first.
